UNIFORM DRESS PROGRAM-Newport Coast Elementary School has adopted a uniform
Dress for Success Guidelines
In an effort to foster an academic school climate, Newport Coast Elementary School implemented a
Uniform Dress Code. This program has contributed to a positive learning atmosphere with a focus on
teaching and learning. It is hoped that when the children dress in the morning for school they leave
the house feeling dressed for success and ready to learn.
Recent research indicates that schools implementing uniform policies enjoy better
student behavior and attitude. The U.S. Department of Education, which provides tracking software to
schools implementing uniform policies, has seen consistently improved attendance and fewer classroom
disruptions in schools with uniform policies.
To date, Newport Coast families have supported our uniform policy in order to
provide the best learning environment for our students. However, pursuant to Education Code Section
35183, those parents who are strongly opposed may sign a Waiver Form exempting their
from the adopted uniform policy (see Waiver Process) and will need to meet with the Principal to go
over the standard District dress code.
In order to ensure the integrity of our program, it is important that everyone
follows the uniform guidelines and wears what is offered through Dennis Uniform. The vast majority
of families have purchased their uniforms and supported the policy.
Therefore, it is our hope that the spirit of support that has been demonstrated
for the Uniform Dress Code continues at our school. Monitoring what children wear to school is not
a productive use of staff’s time. All energy will be focused on moving the school into fast forward
towards excellence in the core academic areas and enrichment programs.
Families in need of financial assistance with their uniform purchases will need
to make an appointment with the Principal.
The office can assist you with where to purchase the Dennis uniform and what
the latest additions are to the uniform choices.
